CSI: Crime Scene Installation
September 2, 2011

LONDON — Ryan Gander’s new performance installation, “Locked Room Scenario,” encourages viewer imagination to run wild with paranoia and suspense to provide an elaborate interactive CSI event.

With timed entry, small groups of people meander through a fictional gallery space in which the installation has been suddenly interrupted. Although there is no clear evidence, there is something distinctly sinister in the air. Gander provides suspects, motives, and clues… then leaves his guests to find out what happened.

Concerning repetition, Gander explains to the London Evening Standard, “There are 150 things that could happen, and they are constantly changing because the actors are sharing roles. You won’t be able to visit here twice and have the same experience.”

“Locked Room Scenario” was created in collaboration with Artangel, the visionary commissioning body that brought works such as Rachel Whiteread’s concrete cast house. It is on view until October 23, and advanced booking essential through Artangel .
